As today is the day my family is celebrating the new member of the family my aunt and uncle are bringing into the world, I thought new life would be a great way to bring in the new week.
There’s a multitude of ways to define new life.
Most often we think of precious newborns cradled in their parents arms.
But there’s so much more.
There are people who gain a new life when they find God.
There are women who escape from abusive relationships and seek a new life in a battered women’s shelter.
There’s men who find a new life when escaping the drug world.
There are wives who find a new life in the midst of nasty divorces.
There’s the little caterpillar who finds a new life as a beautiful butterfly in their cocoon.
There’s a freshly graduated high school student who finds a new life thousands of miles away from home at a college campus.
There’s the poor woman on the street who finds a new life when she gains the opportunity for a job.
A new life is just that, a new life. A new way of living, breathing, and functioning. We all have one life, but experience many new lives throughout our one physical life. I gained a new life when I had my daughter, when I graduated high school, when I got my first job, when I started college, and now when I’m beginning my speaking career. I’ve had many new lives and will continue to do so throughout my life.
It’s a great experience, or can be devastating as well, but it’s new regardless. Although we tend to like to tie positivity with the word new.
What new life has been created in your life recently? Or even in the past? How did that affect your life?
Wishing you the best in your new life today
