Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing well. I know I said I probably wouldn’t be posting much due to school, but I needed to make this one post. I need your help everyone! As a lot of you know (or possibly don’t), I race stock cars and it’s my passion. I was in the running for 4th place in points at my home track this past season until the night before my birthday when I got into a bad wreck and got a concussion. I lost all chances at winning the top 5, and fell to 9th place.
Well, every year we have our awards banquet and they have a contest for the most popular driver award. This is where you come in! I need you all to go to the link below and vote for PAYTON ENGLISH. This is something that is very special to me as I fell out of the running for 4th place in points. I need everyone’s help to get me there. It’s entirely up to you if I win this or not!
There are THREE rounds of voting! The first round ends on February 18th. They will take the top 12 onto the second round starting February 19th and ending February 21st. After that they will take the top 6 from round two and vote for the winner starting February 22nd and ending February 28th, with the winner to be announced that night and the awards banquet. YOU CAN VOTE DURING ALL THREE ROUNDS SO DON’T FORGET!!!!
What do YOU struggle with? Are you currently working on it? What do you do to counteract the struggle if you know it’s going to happen (for example, you know you’re a procrastinator so you make it a priority to sit down and get things done as soon as you know of what you need to do like a homework assignment or project for work)?
Hi everyone! Sorry it’s been a while. I know some people disagree with an explanation as to why I’ve been gone posts, but I feel they’re needed.
Things have been pretty tough around here. Between working really crappy hours, having school, finals, my professors switching things up on me around every corner, annabelle going on a sleeping strike, the holidays plus annabelles second birthday, and other personal issues I’d rather not post, it’s been quite the hectic life lately.
Finals week is next week, and after that I have some great ideas for posts lined up, so keep an eye out for that! I have a month off before spring semester so that should give me some time to bring in some fresh thoughts, and topics.
i miss you all, and our discussions dearly!
Here are some recent pictures from my crazy life for you all to enjoy:
Yup you heard that right, from an entrepreneurs mouth herself.
Being an entrepreneur sucks. Plain and simple. We work our asses off, and for what? A few acts of recognition, or a few out of this world opportunities?
We spend endless hours working, working, and working just for that ONE person to happen upon our project and say “by golly, I really like what you’re doing!”
We put in late night after late night. Sacrificing sleep, nice dinners, and watching our favorite tv shows. Which btw we end up binge watching the entire season in one late night after that ONE person happens upon our work and we think finally we can take a break. But nope. That late night we regret the next night because we don’t have another ONE person happening upon our work.
We put ourselves out there for nothing. We are bait, hanging out there helplessly saying “save me save me save me!” until that hungry fish comes along and destroys everything we’ve built up and we finally get knocked down to the point we can’t fathom going another day.
but we do. We do it because we ARE entrepreneurs. We ARE striving for that ONE person.
But here’s the thing, I LOVE being an entrepreneur.
As a lot of you know, I have started my public speaking career. I have been meaning to make a blog for my public speaking. That way I can have a place for other to contact me for speaking opportunities, and other things in that regard. Like my website, but with a blog as well so I can talk about my experiences.
If you want to know more about my public speaking you can follow my other blog here.
After a 3 day weekend and Annabelle being at her Dad’s, I’m back to work today. How exciting! Right? Eh, not really.
I have so much homework to do though which consists of:
Read Chapter 5 in my Relationships, Marriage, and Family textbook
Read 40 pages out of my First Year Experience textbook
Do a note taking worksheet (So BORING)
Read a 12 page article from the CBO on Immigration
Take my first quiz for Public Issues
I think there’s one or two other things but I can’t remember and I don’t feel like taking out my planner. Yay college!
But I do have to say I’m glad we actually READ our textbooks in college, unlike high school where you lug around these ridiculously huge textbooks EVERY DAY and never use them! Although, my school started getting a clue and made most textbooks online or just had a classroom set since obviously it’s a waste of money to buy every student a textbook and you only read maybe 50 pages. Not even.
You know that exact moment when you’ve overcome something and you just want to throw your fist in the air and proclaim “VICTORY!” ? You do? Awesome!
Much like this! Can anyone name the movie this is from?
Lately I was been battling Annabelle to go to sleep. She absolutely refused to go to bed – unless my Mom was holding her.
So I’ve been trying to let her cry it out. I’d go in, put her back in bed, rub her back or head, give her a kiss and leave. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Eventually I’d give up and she would wind up on my Mom’s lap. Me being so frustrated I’d just be relieved to breathe finally and I’d be so exhausted that I’d go to bed.
Finally this week I put my foot down (much like a little while ago with her pacifier). I’ve been letting her cry and I’d go through that whole process over and over until she fell asleep. It took less than 30 minutes last night and she was asleep before nine!
I figured, eh, I got lucky. It happens, and it’s happened before. Nothing to be too happy about.
Then tonight came.
Went through that process, and once again she was asleep before nine! Tonight however, she put herself to sleep for the most part. I left her door open and she only got out of her bed maybe 3 times. Two of the times I ended up letting her cry, and the third she didn’t cry and laid back down when I told her to.
After she actually fell asleep I wanted to shout “VICTORY!” and do a little jig. Persistence is key!
I hope you have one of these fist-raising moments soon!
